The American Fats and Oils Association is a nonprofit organization whose purpose is to foster trade and commerce within the U.S. and throughout the world for animal, fish, and vegetable fats, oils, and proteins.

The Association disseminates accurate and reliable information to the members of the corporation, to the public, and to interested Government agencies in regard to such products. The AFOA works to promote uniformity and certainty in the standards of such products and in the customs and usages of the trade; to promote friendship, sociability, and culture among its members and between the members and the public.

The Annual Meeting Fees are the
Same or Lowered for 2009

The AFOA Board of Directors recognizes the tough economic times and tighter budgets that members are facing.  AFOA continues to work to keep the cost of its highly regarded annual meeting low so that it can maintain strong attendance.  Through the conference the association works to provide multiple opportunities for face-to-face meetings to discuss the issues and challenges that are ahead.

As you are well aware, the cost of almost everything has risen dramatically over the past few years.  The board is pleased to announce that it will not only continue to maintain the 2008 registration fee but has also re-negotiated a $100 decrease in the room rate at the Grand Hyatt.  This year’s room rate will be $329.

Sponsorship support allows the association to maintain its low registration rate. The Association has again decided to offer members the opportunity to become sponsors of the 2009 AFOA Annual Meeting -- and yes, even the sponsorship costs have been reduced.  (See the attached sponsorship brochure.)

The AFOA October 14-15 meeting in New York is possibly the best chance the industry has to gather and network with customers and suppliers.  The Board hopes that you will consider showcasing your company with a sponsorship.  The association is committed to making sure your investment is both valuable and worthy of your time and money.

USDA makes $50 million available for Biofuels Projects

USDA announced it is accepting applications for up to $50 million in projects to promote the continued production and use of biofuels.

  • $30 million to provide payments to eligible advanced biofuel producers to encourage the increased production and use of biofuels.
